When I was a kid I saw my grandfather collecting ancient coins and paper money. I always play with those coins and my grandfather told me that those are his precious collections. So I wonder why other people keep those old coins and paper money, as what I understand you can no longer use them to buy a toy. And as I grew up i have realized that collecting coins is not just for fun. To start your coin collection as investment so you can prosper later. You will need to do the following: 1.The first important thing that you need to understand is the history of that coin. It is important to track the event of the coin as their value is changing. The rarer an old coin, the more it will be worth. The demand for a particular old coin by dealers or how many collectors want it, will also greatly influence coin values. Read old books so that you can get idea how valuable your coin is. 2.Ask friends and relatives if they have old change and then ask if you can have it or offer to buy it, depending on what feels appropriate. 3.Complete a set. Collect one of each year and mint mark of your coin of choice. 4. Expand your collection by searching from an auction site. I am sure they have the coin that you are looking for or you can also visit a local coin shop. Get to know the people who work there; they can help you expand your collection by explaining ways to find pieces you're missing coin. 5.Store your coins in a safe place. If you are buying expensive coins, invest in a safe-deposit box and containers that will not destroy the numismatic value of your coins. 6. Note that some people advise collecting coins out of pocket change. Once a modern coin has been in circulation, it is typically only worth its face value, although there are notable exceptions. Coins are really a good investment. It has been growing in value faster than the rate of inflation, as well as the interest rates paid by banks. If you buy and sell carefully, there is money to be made.
